Judaism has a great deal to say in the Scriptures about how community should be built and how the community should take care of the individuals in the community of God. Whole sections of the Old Testament or Tanak are dedicated to care for the poor, the widow or orphan, the homeless, the foreigner in the community, the hungry or naked, or the traveler in their midst.
