Innovation projects relay on collecting data and information that support the project goal. Research is a systematic approach that provides information (Cooper and Schindler, 2006). To ensure accuracy and consistency of results, researchers use the scientific Method. That is, project managers use accepted research methods to test and confirm results. This has been an accepted process for hundreds of years.
On page 5 of Chapter 2 of the Cooper and Schindler (2006) book states that the Scientific Method consists of several related principles:
