Given an N ×Μ image A, the required task is to compress theimage to a reduced image B of the same dimension N ×Μ , but
with a smaller storage size. This type of reduction is usuallyperformed as the process of image or video compression.
Image/video compression is now a standard procedure performedbefore we upload our images to social media sites, such as
Pinterest, Instagram, Facebook, or in uploading our video toYoutube, or before we send our fanciful video or image to afriend
using our mobile phone, or over the internet. For this assignment,we will perform simple image compression using the discrete
cosine transform (DCT).
