As we read about and consider civilizations of the past, our firstdiscussion topic for this module is to think about how technologychanges ones’ way of life and the cultures it comes into contactwith, both positively and negatively. Part of graduate study is theability to do research that informs and elevates our knowledge ofcontemporary problems, and extends our ability to address thoseissues with scope and depth. Our problems today include but are notlimited to: Preserving indigenous cultures without supplanting andpotentially destroying their ways of life.
