What position do you think today’s government takes towards unions?
Expert Answer
From 1830’s to 1932, the Government’s position was anti-union – a Laissez Faire/Rugged Individualist mentality indeed. This altered to a pro0union approach in the period 1932 – 1945 when many laws were passed for supporting the union activities. This led to severe distress for the management and the position changed to a fair balance between union and management in the period after 1945 i.e. after the WWII.
After 1945, the Taft-Hartley Act was passed by the Congress which tried to keep a balance between the union and management.
