In 1947, the republican lawmakers passed the Taft-Hartley Act over the prohibit of President Truman as unions had grown very powerful. The declaration by labor unions that the law was a “slave labor act” hit unions’ right where it hurt.
This act gave new rights to businesses. As an omnibus bill, the Taft-Harley Act contained a number of laws and had numerous benefits for employers.
