Prevention costs are incurred to prevent or avoid quality problems. The costs are due to designing, implementing and maintaining the quality management system.

In case of cables, specifications have to be fixed regarding the type of material used for making cables, sizes of the cabel(length, thickness,etc.). Training on necessary operations which deal with cable handling can also prevent many failures
