Radiation problem

One possible way to treat cancer is with radiation therapy. An external beam treatment machine called a linear accelerator is used to pass radiation through the patient’s body. This beam damages both the cancerous area (which is good) and healthy cells (which is bad). Typically, multiple beams of different strengths are used from different sides and different angles. We want to choose the strengths (intensities) of each beam in order to treat the tumors while minimizing damage to healthy tissue.
