The rewards are offered for meeting specific targets set and the rewards and punishments are used to influence the employee performance. Hence the employees would concentrate on meeting the specific targets set and work towards them without using creativity. As the rewards are given as an exchange for meeting the targets it does not help to create commitment to the organization among the employees.
