Hawthorne Effect with Example
The tendency of the employees of a company to perform their work in a more better and improved manner due to the observation kept at the time of conducting an experiment is known as Hawthorne effect. The Hawthorne study or experiment was conducted at Western Electric factory in Hawthorne by Elton Mayo to examine the effect of physical conditions on the working efficiency of the workers. Under this experiment, workers performance was tested in two forms of lights – dimmed light and highly illuminated light. It was observed that the workers performed equally well in both types
