X Chart and R chart are types of Control Charts used to measure whether output parameters generated by a process are within control or out of control. If the output parameters are out of control, the process will be considered out of control. Corrective measures need to be taken to bring the Process back in control.. The full form of R chart is called Range chart.
To establish the control charts, a number of samples are taken with a constant sample size at regular interval. The output parameters of each sample are
