Water is pumped from a lake to pressurized tank (60 psig) suspended 50 ft above the lake. The feed pipe at the lake is 3 inches (inside diameter, ID) and the exit pipe at the tank is 1.5 inches (ID). If friction in the pipes consumes 20% of the pump energy, determine the pump size (hp) needed to fill the tank at a rate of 100 gal/min. Assume the liquid water has a density of 1 g/cm.
