LaShawna Goodman went to a local Walmart store in Opelika,Alabama, to do some last-minute holiday shopping. She brought alongher two young daughters and a telephone she had purchased earlierat Walmart to exchange. She presented the telephone and receipt toa Walmart employee, who took the telephone. Unable to find anothertelephone she wanted, Goodman retrieved the previously purchasedtelephone from the employee, bought another item, and left.Outside, Goodman was stopped by Walmart security personnel and wasaccused of stealing the phone.
